Product Description

Joy Abbott had never stayed in one place long. She followed the wind, moving from place to place. She didn't put down roots. She didn't make friends. She didn't get tied down. A registered letter changed everything though. Joy obeyed the summons it contained and headed to yet another new town. Instantly Joy is constrained by terms in a will belonging to a stranger -- her grandfather. One year and she'd become the owner of a bakery. A bakery she could sell to fund her wandering dreams.

At least that's what she thought until she locked eyes with Will Bell. He quickly shows her the little town holds more than she'd thought. Friendship. Family. Love. Faith. Joy starts to see that standing still isn't a trap, putting down roots isn't giving up, and that faith can be as sweet and fresh as just baked bread.

"Thank you."

Will smiled and the butterfly in my stomach did a summersault. "I figured you'd like to get to know your grandparents a little."

To my surprise tears flooded my eyes. I turned away, rushing back downstairs, trying to regain control of my emotions. I blamed the past few days on my uncharacteristic mushiness. I was normally so level and even. Having your world fall apart in less than a week would wreck anyone.

I paced around the big kitchen, taking in the white and stainless steel landscape again. This was my world. My kitchen. My bakery. As the words formed in my mind I realized I'd decided to stay. I stopped, glancing around again, stopping in surprise when I spotted a big black and white cat watching me from on top of a cabinet.

"What do you think, kitten? Want to run a bakery with me?" It meowed at me then dashed away as Will and Mr. Coulter walked into the room.

"So what do I need to do to get her running again?"

"I'll leave you two to work out the details." Mr. Coulter came over and shook my hand. "Good to have you here, Joy. Rio Verde hasn't been the same without an Abbott baking for everyone."

Will walked over to the marble topped island, pulling up a tall stool and laying out a stack of papers. "Let's talk business."

"Just give me a list. I can do it on my own."

"Nope." He tugged a piece a paper free from the top of the stack, holding it out to me. "What does it say?"

I rolled my eyes and sighed and read it out loud. "Let Will help you, Joy Claire."
